USA Climbing Announces Locations for 2022 National Team Trials, Paraclimbing and Collegiate Nationals

USA Climbing is proud to announce the locations for the 2022 USA Climbing National Team Trials, Paraclimbing National Championships and Collegiate National Championships.

The 2022 USA Climbing National Team Trials presented by YETI will be at Stone Summit Kennesaw in Atlanta, March 9-13. The event will select the athletes who represent the USA at international World Cup and World Championships events sanctioned by the IFSC. Athletes will compete in all three disciplines of climbing – Bouldering, Lead, and Speed – over the course of the five-day competition. The 2022 U.S. National Team will be composed of the top three ranked U.S. athletes per gender in each respective discipline after the conclusion of this event.

“We are thrilled to be hosting the 2022 USA Climbing National Team Trials at Stone Summit,” said Will Pair, Co-Owner of Stone Summit. “I grew up participating in USA Climbing events, so to be able to go full circle and now take part in hosting this event is very rewarding. I am very excited to see athletes I grew up with competing at this high level in hopes of making the U.S. National Team.”

Later in March, the 2022 Paraclimbing National Championships will be held March 26-27 in Birmingham, Ala. at High Point Climbing and Fitness. Paraclimbing Nationals will crown national champions and select the U.S. National Team athletes who will represent USA at international events sanctioned by the IFSC. The 2022 U.S. National Team will be composed of the top three ranked US athletes per gender in each category.

“High Point Climbing and Fitness Birmingham is thrilled to host the Paraclimbing Nationals in 2022. We are dedicated to providing wonderful experiences to everyone in our growing climbing communities,” said John Wiygul, President of High Point Climbing and Fitness.

After a two-year delay due to COVID-19, the Collegiate National Championships return, taking place April 22-24 in Philadelphia at Reach Climbing and Fitness Bridgeport. The Championships will determine national champions and select the U.S. Collegiate National Team athletes who will represent USA at the 2022 FISU World University Championships. The 2022 Team will be composed of the top three ranked US athletes per gender per discipline.

“Reach Climbing is thrilled to once again bring a national event to the Philadelphia area. We look forward to welcoming the students, teams, coaches, and USA Climbing to our venue in what will be an amazing event and festival,” said Michael Feinberg, Owner of Reach Climbing and Fitness.

“We are honored to work with these fantastic facilities and passionate climbing communities,” said John Muse, Vice President of Sport for USA Climbing. “Our sport does not progress without their important support.”

At this time, the events will allow ticketed spectators. USA Climbing is monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and working closely with the host facilities to organize the competition in line with local health departments and CDC guidelines as well as input from the USA Climbing Medical Committee.

Registration information will be coming soon and more details regarding YouTube livestreams and ESPN2 broadcast dates and times for applicable events will be shared closer to the events.
