Back to News USA Climbing is proud to announce that Momentum Indoor Climbing in Salt Lake City will host the 2021 YETI Climbing National Championships, November 13-17. For the first time ever, the separate elite championships for Bouldering, Lead and Speed are being combined into one single championships event, crowning six national champions. This new event will bring America’s best competition climbers together, including Olympic and National Team members, and provide an early look at the athletes working to make the Paris 2024 Olympic Team. “This is the first unified championships under our realigned USA Climbing National Calendar,” said Marc Norman, CEO of USA Climbing. “We are excited to finish our inaugural Olympic year in the beautiful Wasatch Front.” Given the size of the event, Momentum Indoor Climbing will share the championships across two of its facilities with Millcreek hosting Lead and Speed and Lehi hosting Bouldering. The preliminary schedule can be found here. “Momentum is excited to work with USA Climbing by hosting the upcoming National Championships,” said Jeff Pedersen, CEO of Momentum Indoor Climbing. “We look forward to great competitions, memorable performances and to doing our part to ensure a quality experience for the athletes.” “A special thanks to Momentum Indoor Climbing for hosting this important Championships,” added Norman. “They are a proven partner and hosting the event in Utah helps us keep costs down while still delivering a great event for athletes and fans.” At this time, the event will allow ticketed spectators. USA Climbing is monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and working closely with the host facility to organize the competition in line with local health department and CDC guidelines as well as input from the USA Climbing Medical Committee. USA Climbing is planning to livestream the semi-finals and finals on USA Climbing’s YouTube channel and broadcast event highlights on ESPN2. Programming details will be shared closer to the event.
