About the USA Climbing Foundation

At USA Climbing, we believe that climbing is more than a sport. It’s a lifelong journey that fosters personal growth, community connection, and athletic excellence. As the National Governing Body (NGB) recognized by the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC), USA Climbing is at the forefront of expanding access to the sport, developing the next generation of athletes, and elevating American climbing on the world stage. From national competitions to Olympic arenas, we are building a movement that reflects the values of inclusion, resilience, and shared ambition that helps every athlete reach their highest potential.

The USA Climbing Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, exists to power USA Climbing’s mission and long-term success. Our donors and partners make it possible to elevate athlete development, grow national programs, and pursue bold initiatives that move the sport forward. Their generosity forms the foundation of everything we aim to achieve—and ensures climbing continues to thrive for athletes at every level.

National Training Center – Salt Lake City, UT

The National Training Center (NTC) will be a state-of-the-art facility that will serve as the operational and training hub for USA Climbing in Salt Lake City, Utah. This transformative building will offer world-class resources for athletes, host national and international events, and anchor USA Climbing’s presence in the heart of the climbing community. With $15 million in funding from the Utah Legislature, the NTC is projected to generate $225 million in economic impact for the state of Utah over the next decade and is expected to welcome over 400,000 visitors on an annual basis.

Support for Olympic & Paralympic Athletes

USA Climbing supports elite U.S. athletes on their path to the podium, including those competing in the newly expanded climbing program at the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Funding will help cover essential costs for Olympic and Paralympic athletes, such as training, travel, coaching, equipment, and health care—ensuring that our climbers have what they need to succeed at the highest levels.

    The Next Generation

USA Climbing supports athletes at all levels. With over 10,000+ youth competitors in 2024 and over 350+ USA Climbing sanctioned events, there is a growing interest in the sport. We continue to expand our programs and initiatives to meet this need. With support from our donors, we are able to provide additional educational opportunities to coaches, parents, and gyms to help support athletes from their first moment on the wall through their next competition.

    Education

Education is at the heart of USA Climbing, with an emphasis on strengthening and expanding our educational opportunities to coaches, routesetters and industry professionals. In the coming years, we also plan to broaden our reach through youth engagement, especially in elementary schools. With donor support, we can develop the next generation of climbing leaders and ensure a safe, inclusive, and skilled climbing ecosystem.
